Being a student in PEAK is both an honor and a privilege. You are a very important part of our partnership and we cannot be successful in PEAK without your commitment and dedication to your education. As a PEAK scholar, we hold you to high standards and expect the best from you, including:
- Minimum Grade Point Average: Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (C average) every quarter and semester report card.
- Passing Grades: Maintain passing grades in all classes every quarter and semester report card.
- Tutoring: If your grade falls below a “C” in any class, you are responsible for working with your teacher and your PEAK Student Life Director to establish a plan to improve the grade before the next mid-quarter Progress Report or quarterly report card.
- FRESHMEN STUDENTS ONLY are required to attend mandatory tutoring Monday through Thursday in the Resource Learning Center from 3:15 PM-4:15 PM until your grades on your first report card are C or better and above 2.25 Cumulative GPA, which you will be notified by PEAK.
- If you are removed from mandatory tutoring and your grades fall below a C or 2.25 GPA, you will again be required to attend mandatory tutoring as outlined above, which you will be notified by PEAK.
- Sophomore, Junior, & Senior students will also be required to attend mandatory tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Resource Learning Center from 3:15 PM-4:15 PM until your grades on your next report card are C or better, which you will be notified by PEAK.
- Behavior: You are required to abide by the PEAK Student Ethical Code of Conduct. Additionally, PEAK fully supports Holy Trinity’s student policies and rules and holds its scholars to the same standards as all other students. You will obey all student policies and rules in the Holy Trinity High School Student Handbook including Attendance, Tardiness and Discipline. PEAK reserves the right to establish and enforce additional disciplinary standards.
- Communication with your PEAK Mentor: You are required to meet with your mentor for at least four hours a month. In addition, you are required to contact your mentor once every two weeks to let him or her know how you are doing in school. Any call from your mentor must be returned within 24 hours.
- PEAK Student/Mentor Events: You are required to attend the four mandatory PEAK Student/Mentor events throughout the school year. You are still required to attend even if your mentor can’t attend the event. Members of Holy Trinity athletic teams are excused only if there is a conflicting game. Practice is not an excused absence from PEAK student/mentor events.
- Work Study Program: You are responsible for performing your after school work duties EVERY DAY to the satisfaction of the supervising teacher/staff member at Holy Trinity High School. If you are unable to perform your duties after school, you must notify Mr. Morales (room 308 at HT) in advance and then do it the following morning before school. Work study must be performed EVERY DAY including, early dismissals, half days, during finals, etc. If work study is cancelled an announcement will be made notifying students.
For additional program requirements, please refer to your Student/Parent Handbook.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT & RESPONSIBILITY
As the parent/guardian, you too are an integral part of our partnership and without your dedication and commitment to your child’s education, we cannot be successful. Although PEAK is here to support your efforts, you ultimately have the responsibility to help your child reach his or her potential in life. You have an important role to fill in your child’s academic career. What your child learns in high school will enable him or her to be a productive and successful member of society.
As the primary influence and authority, you must exert control in the choices your child makes. You have certain responsibilities related to assisting your child in meeting the standards expected of him/her:
- Attendance: see that your child attends school and is on time for school daily.
- Homework: support your child by monitoring the completion of his/her homework.
- Tutoring: see that your child attends tutoring and other after school instruction if his/her grade falls below a C at any time.
- School Fees: will pay the $600 annual fee to Holy Trinity; and ensure that your child has the books, uniforms, and materials required for each school year.
- Failure to make your payments on time will result in exclusion from Holy Trinity and may result in PEAK scholarship suspension or termination.
- Encourage contact between your child and the mentor. If your child needs some prodding in order to get him or her to call or meet with the mentor, give a push and make it happen. The mentor cannot support the student if he or she cannot get in touch with the student. Frequent contact between the students and their mentors will help your child do well in school and in life. The mentors want to be supportive and challenge your child to be “the best he or she can be.”
- When your child and the mentor cannot seem to make contact, you want to act as a go-between and keep the mentor updated on your child’s progress.
- Set academic goals with your child. Help him or her to be successful by ensuring completion of homework as well as good school attendance.
- Although a mentor’s relationship is primarily with your child, it is very important for you to get to know the mentor as well. Knowing the mentor might ease any anxiety you may have about the mentor’s interest in your child.
- Continue to provide a clean and safe home environment, good meals, and a quiet place for your child to study. This is important in helping your child to remain focused on their studies.
- Ensure that requests for information from PEAK are returned in a timely manner (i.e., evaluations, RSVP, paperwork, etc.).
- Reinforce program requirements to your child. This not only guarantees your child’s participation in the program, but ultimately teaches them the importance of following through on commitments that they make in their lives.
TUITION PAYMENTS
The tuition commitment made by PEAK is a four-year commitment. PEAK parents also commit to paying $600 a year to ensure that your child has the books, uniforms, materials & fees required for each school year. Tuition payments are to be made directly to Holy Trinity through the Tuition Management System (TMS).
Please contact Holy Trinity’s Business Office at (773) 278-4212 ext. 3026 for details on setting up your payments through TMS. Payment options include:
PEAK Parental Financial Commitment:
You are responsible for paying $600 a year to Payment in full by August 20th
$200 by August 20th
$200 by October 20th
$200 by February 20th
* Holy Trinity will charge a $30 late fee to your HT account for payments received after the 20th.
It is extremely important that you follow your payment plan and not allow your child’s tuition payment(s) to become delinquent. Delinquency ultimately hurts the student. They may be called into the school office, not allowed to take exams, or be unable to receive their report cards. These types of things are embarrassing and can be avoided if payment plans are kept.
NOTE: Failure to make your payments on time will result in exclusion from Holy Trinity and may result in PEAK scholarship suspension or termination.
In the event that you experience a financial hardship and are unable to pay your monthly payment, please contact the school to make temporary arrangements IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait.
PEAK’s payments for your child’s tuition will be paid directly to Holy Trinity in the students’ name and will appear as a payment on the student’s account.
For additional program requirements, please refer to your Student/Parent Handbook.
